Where we can, we push for prefabricated curbs with proper cricket flashing above and behind, instead of pourable sealant filling a metal pan. It costs more up front and outlasts the pitch pan by years.

Full plant shutdowns for a re-roof are rare and expensive. Most of our manufacturing work happens in phases, section by section, dried in nightly and tied back into the existing membrane at the end of each shift so there's never an open roof over live equipment overnight.
Hot work near process areas is its own conversation. Where solvents, fuel vapor, or combustible dust are part of the process, torch-applied modified bitumen is off the table and we spec cold-adhered or mechanically fastened systems instead, coordinated through your site's hot work permit process rather than around it.
Membrane Chemistry Depends on What's Coming Out of Your Exhaust
TPO, PVC, and EPDM don't age the same way under oily or solvent-laden exhaust. PVC's plasticizer-free formulation holds up better than standard TPO where grease-laden or oil-laden air settles on the field long-term. EPDM can be the wrong call entirely if aromatic solvents are in the mix, since some formulations swell on contact. We ask what's actually venting onto the roof before we recommend a system, not after.
For plants already coated, we test compatibility before recoating. A silicone recoat over an oil-contaminated field without proper cleaning and priming fails inside a couple of years.

There's no fixed number. It's a flashing quality question, not a count question. A roof with twenty well-flashed curbs outlasts one with five poorly flashed pitch pans.
Does UV exposure matter as much as wind out here?
Both matter, but differently. Wind uplift is a fastening and attachment problem. UV degradation is a membrane chemistry and maintenance problem. We design for uplift and maintain for UV.
